It just occurred to me that I should probably take the time to write a more meaningful post on my experience at Blogphiladelphia. I've read some great recaps today from Alex Hillman, Chris Conley and Colin Devroe that give the event serious justice. The whole conference felt so frenetic and so NOW and so localized and so futurized that it was hard for me to process much more than the photos I dumped on flickr, and the steady stream of comments that followed.
Since my brain only seems to function in Twitter mode of late, I will throw out a few memorable experiences from the event:
The Viddler dudes: Colin Devroe and Rob Sandie. Both are totally awesome, engaging and CRAZY ENTHUSIASTIC. It would be totally fantastic if we could import them straight into Philly and have them around all the time, because they would just blow up the joint. You guys ROCK!
Mr. and Mrs. Toonamation. Picture it, the last moments of the conference, Friday afternoon, a happy hour calling... Stan and Lisa take the stage and unveil Spiderman through Toonamation, and it's... amazing. Everyone was blown away by the graphic novel effects. How cool and surprising! They followed up by adding these effects to some of the photos from the Blogphilly flickr pool. They even made a stellargirl set!
The one and only Scott McNulty. Some might say he was the belle of the ball, as his sessions about negative comments and group blogging were quite humorous and entertaining to all who attended. I'm spoiled, I work with Scott so I get his special brand of sarcasm almost every day of the week.
Partying with P'unk Avenue. Geoff, Alex and Rick threw it down at the kick-off party Wednesday night. Thanks for all the delicious food and drink and for being a cool hub of web geekery.
Getting silly at Triumph Brewery. A night that ended with games of quarters, arm wrestling, group photos with jazz hands, laptops left behind... all courtesy of the magic that the Independents Hall crew brings. Represent!
Wrapping it up at National Mechanics. Viddler t-shirts as far as the eye could see, a hyena-like laughing contest with Johnny Bilotta and the birth of animated Blankbaby.
And last but certainly not least, the tag team duo of Alex Hillman and Annie Heckenberger: Blogphiladelphia evangelists and organizers who brought us all together to make new friends, find new collaborators, have a LOT of fun, put Philly back on the map, and to START A REVOLUTION.
I had fun, and I hope you did, too!
